"Creating New Possibilities in STEM"
CALVIN BRIGGS, ED.DFounder & Executive Director
Dr. Briggs advocates for impactful STEM policy and broadly disseminates “Best Practices” in STEM student recruitment, retention, success, and leadership through on going committee assignments via Alabama Mathematics Science and Technology Coalition (AMSTEC), the Understanding Interventions Advisory Board, and the Conference Board of Mathematical Sciences National Forum. Most notably, serving as a member of the Alabama Governor's Advisory Council for Excellence in STEM (ACES) and a member of the Alabama State Mathematics Course of Study Committee, he along with his colleagues, were able to draft and guide the adoption of the “Alabama Roadmap to STEM Success: A Strategic Plan for STEM Education” and the 2020 Alabama State Mathematics Course of Study,” respectively. It is essential that we equip, elevate, and enrich our students, faculty, and administration with the necessary tools to advance STEM career pathways.
Dr. Briggs received his Associate of Arts degree from Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ; a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA; his Master degree in Mathematics Education; and a Doctorate of Education degree in Educational Leadership, Policy and Law from Alabama State University in Montgomery, AL.
